Baseball and the Hobby- 101
Baseball and the Hobby- 101
I am currently working towards putting in a Moderators application, but before I apply, I realize that I have a lot of knowledge to gain. On top of reading tons of threads thoroughly to learn more and more as I begin my adventure as a hobby collector and a baseball junky. I'm excited to get any and all feedback, so here's how this you can help.
Why do I want to be a Moderator? It's a learning experience and I'm almost always on SportsCardFreaks for hours throughout the day. I'm really enjoying the hobby and am dieing ot learn everything I can. I'm going to be around here for a long time and I'm always looking to share my knowledge with individuals, especially when it comes the time for me to pass on the knowledge to beginners like me. More or less, I'm a dedicated type of person who is willing to spend the time to stay online and help keep things running smooth and make sure everyone gets help when needed. Alright, let's get this massive tutoring session started! |

One thing that I have noticed is that people who know the sport always know who the prospects are. So, before next season starts, try and know who the hottest rookies are (like this year Evan Longaria would have been one).
Just my two cents. I'll add if I think of anything else.

Yeah, I've never followed any of the rookie prospects, but that is a good idea. Is there anywhere I can follow this online? Another question, when and where can I see drafts each season? |

I don't know the answer to either of those questions. Sorry! I have never been into the baseball draft especially since a lot of the rookies just come up from farm teams instead of straight from college. I;m sure there is a wiser card collector than me who can answer your questions though.

ESPN has the drafts listed for the past 10 years. Search 20.. MLB Draft.
Here's the 08 Draft- Draft: 2008 DraftTracker | MLB.com: Events

Also, through ESPN and other sports networks, you can keep up with which teams are interested in signing certain free agents or are getting ready to make trades.
