After sitting out 2 years, Miles gets Celtics deal

BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Celtics signed forward Darius Miles, who missed the last two NBA seasons because of knee injuries.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said Friday that Miles worked out twice for the team before signing.

Miles played for Portland in the 2005-06 season. Portland waived Miles after it was determined his right knee was damaged enough to qualify as a career-ending injury.

Miles was selected third overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2000 NBA draft.

Yea, not because of the reason you put, more for other reasons. It also gives you the opportunity to put something done in more creative terms.

Like Darius miles is so terrible, he couldn't hold on to the ball if it was glued to his hand.

Or Darius Miles is so terrible, he couldn't make the Clippers (lol).

Or Darius Miles and Carrot Top have 2 things in common, neither can tell a joke or play basketball.

Maybe having a solid group of guys around him and not the blazzers or another lack luster NBA team will get him to be involved.

Boston either made a SMART move and got a steal or they just gift wrapped the title to the West!

Probably the later.... Darius won't bring in a winning mentality to the franchise after a few years of injuries.

Maybe they brought him in to be an acting coach for Paul Pierce, or to test the team buffet, or inflate the balls. NBA contracts are guaranteed, so I doubt they payed him to actually play basketball.

Darius Miles- the kid comes in at 19, in the worst organization possible, and he falls into a rut- no enforcement of rules, no real team concept, etc.

He tries to get by on sheer athleticism, and it doesn't always work. Guys give him the jumper, and he can't make it. They trade him to the Cavs, and he's there when LeBron arives, but he's already deemed a cancer, so they get him out of there before his bad habits rub off. He goes to Portland- organization out of control. Same story.

Then he gets injured. Just as he was maturing and figuring out what he needed to do, 2 years of his career are gone.

Now he is a Celtic, and if he makes the team, he has his idol as a mentor, a team that unifies around a specific goal, and a team hungry to prove that last year was not a joke. He can play valuable minutes backing up KG and Pierce.

He wouldn't be the first player to mature and become a valuable asset.
