taking time off to persue another pashion of mine

As some of you from the old beckett boards know i have two collecting loves in my life cards and cars (mainly gm f-body's). i recently picked up a nice 91 rs and have decided to stop with the cards for a while and spend my time and $$$ on my other passion. I will still be around everyonce in a while just to look at maildays and see what everyone is up to.

I will post picks as soon as i get them and will keep everyone up to date with the progress of my new baby.

i also just bought a car and will stop buying and trading to put more time into it. i will be on here all the time still but my collection is on hold.

thanks for the kind words. this will be my 14th f-body i have owned and the 4th i have restored/modified. i work for an auto parts company so getting most everything i need will not be that big of a deal. The car is in really good shape and i have a friend that is an excelent body man so what little body work their is will be cheap for me to fix.

melloman- congrats on the purchase of your car, if you do not mind what kind of car is it.

its a 97 toyota corolla (stop laughing) lol. im going to fix it up though with a body kit and put neon and all that good stuff on it.

I'm with ya Tim, I stopped collecting for awhile and focused on my car too. I'm a Mustang fan, this is my 4th Mustang but my first GT Convertible! So far I've thrown a few thousand into him but still shopping around for more like always.

well good news and bad news on the rs front i will give the bad news first.

bad news

looks like i will have to put a new engine in it (or rebuild it)
the engine i want (not counting a new ls style engine) is out of a c5 corvette around $2,500-$3,000

the good news
i work at an auto parts store and can get the engine for around $1,400 + a few minor things like headers,distributor,water pump etc...

i still may decide to rebuild and stroke the engine that is in it right now, it will only cost me around $600 for the stroker kit and i can do all the work myself including notching the block. if i decide to rebuild/stroke it with a new cam and a set of aluminum heads new carb and intake i am looking for around 385 hp and about 410 lbs of torque at the flywheel and it will cost me around $1,800. the only reason i am still considering the vette motor is because it has a warranty, the power is smaller around 260 hp and 330 lbs of torque. But if it tears up it has a three year warranty.

sorry for the long read but i am at a stand still right now and was just keeping everyone up to date.

darn mustang fans!!! just kidding my fourth favorite car is a mustang, and the funny thing is my buddy who does most of the work for me is a ford certafied (spelling) mechanic who loves mustangs and hates camaros.

good luck with your mustang and i would love to see picks of it. I was actualy considering building a mustang (my buddy gave me a good running 302 and had just about talked me into building one) before i came across this camaro for a really really good price.
